Pearl Care Instructions

🧴 Put pearls on last

Always apply perfume, hairspray, and makeup before putting on your pearls. The rule: pearls go on last, come off first.

🧵 Check the knots regularly

Because each pearl is hand-knotted on silk, check the thread every 1–2 years. Silk stretches and can fray. We offer free restringing within 30 days of purchase.

🧽 Clean with a soft cloth

Wipe pearls gently with a soft, damp cloth after wearing. Never use ultrasonic cleaners, steamers, or harsh chemicals. For stubborn spots, use a tiny amount of mild soap and rinse quickly.

📦 Store separately

Keep pearls in a soft pouch or lined box, away from other jewelry that can scratch them. Avoid airtight containers — pearls need a little humidity to maintain their nacre. Our linen gift box is perfect for storage.

💧 Wear them often

Surprisingly, wearing your pearls regularly is good for them — the natural oils from your skin keep their nacre hydrated and lustrous. Pearls worn often tend to glow more beautifully than those left in a drawer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Freshwater and Akoya pearls?

+

Akoya pearls are saltwater pearls grown in Japan and China, known for their perfectly round shape and very high, mirror-like luster. Freshwater pearls are grown in lakes and rivers — they come in a wider range of shapes and pastel colors, with a softer glow. Akoya pearls are generally more expensive due to their perfect roundness and brilliance.
